The Crystal Dolphin was purchased by American Waterways in 1998 along with its ramp and docking facility which was relocated to Caruthers Landing, our office, mooring and maintenance facility at 110 SE Caruthers.
An extensive remodel upgraded the three interior decks to allow for 50 guests for a seated meal and 120 guests for a reception-type event. A custom-designed on-board galley headed by our Executive Chef handles food preparation.
The Crystal Dolphin was the third vessel to join the Portland Spirit fleet. She was built in 1990 by Aluminum Boats of Jean Lafitte, Louisiana and is powered by twin 500 HP Catepillar diesel engines. Two Isuzu diesel generators provide electricity.
The vessel can reach speeds of 14 knots, and has a gross tonnage of 91 tons. The hull and superstructure are constructed of aluminum. She is 84' long including the swim platform at the stern, with a 24' beam and 4 1/2'.
The vessel has four public decks, three of which are fully enclosed and climate controlled. From the Columbia Deck, you can access the Captains' Bridge which we invite you to visit while the vessel is under way. The Starlight Deck has teak benches and affords a commanding view of the breathtaking scenery of the Willamette Valley.
We have a high-quality audio system that allows music and announcements to be heard on all interior and exterior decks.
