Responsibilities:

  • -Complete Portland Spirit training for deckhand, Sr. deckhand and engineering.

LEAD COOK - Portland

Will be directly responsible for daily food service operations. Position will be responsible for managing, supervising, and training of all on-board galley personnel. Position will ensure a high level of food quality, while helping to maintain budget figures for labor and food cost. The main focus will be to ensure that the guests perceive a high value of food service and true customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • -Protects the integrity of the executive chefs reputation.
  • -Leads by example; follows all Company quality standards for food preparation, storage and rotation, line cooking procedures, and all safe work practices.
  • -Responsible for maintaining and controlling the overall quality, consistency, preparation, and presentation of all assigned products.
  • -Oversee and assist in the development of menus and the preparation of food.

Position will be directly responsible for all related styles of service, including, but not limited to, table side, banquet, and cocktailing. Main focus will be to ensure customer perceives high value of service provided and true customer satisfaction. Flexible schedule, with emphasis on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • -Assist in marine operations as necessary, including, but not limited to, safety drills, ship cleanliness, and deckhand duties.
  • -Involved in all facets of customer services and amenities provided to guests.
  • -Responsible for daily record keeping and handling money outlined by the Accounting Department and Service Management.
  • -Adheres to side work, set-up and close down, procedures and ensures ship cleanliness.
  • -Maintains a high level of customer service.
  • -Adheres to uniform policy and tip policy, monitors product costs, and initiates teamwork.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE - Portland

Your main focus will be to ensure excellent customer service while assisting passengers and visitors. This position is also directly responsible for processing telephone and in-person reservation requests for individual and small group purchases.

Responsibilities:

  • -Answering high volume of incoming telephone calls and directing calls.
  • -Knowledge of all general information regarding cruise schedules, services, prices and general boat inquiries.
  • -Cash handling and other monetary transactions.

CRUISE MANAGER - Portland

Portland Spirit - Portland, OR

As a Cruise Manager, you are responsible for all cruise service staff and services aboard the Portland Spirit cruises. You will be directly responsible for managing cruises, as well as, all duties set forth for the administration of service department. Your main focus will be to ensure customer perceives high value of service provided and true customer satisfaction. You must possess a willingness to do whatever needs to be done to insure that the vessels of the AWI fleet look and perform to the standards of the company.
Ideal candidates must have a flexible schedule, with emphases on weekends, evenings and holidays.
Cruise managers must complete a pre-employment drug test and will continue to be enrolled in random D.O.T. drug testing schedule per Coast Guard regulations.

Responsibilities:

As a Manager, you are responsible for all staff in the Locks Café, Gift Shop, and Customer Service Department. You will be directly responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the Visitor Center, as well as all the administrative duties. Your main focus will be to ensure that the customer perceives a high value of service provided and true customer satisfaction. You must be willing to do whatever it takes to insure that the Visitors Center is operated with the standards of the Portland Spirit. STERNWHEELER CAPTAIN

Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler - Cascade Locks, OR

Responsibilities:

  • -Complete Sternwheeler Deckhand, Senior Deckhand and Engineering training.
  • -Knowledgeable of all boats engines and other mechanical equipment.
  • -Know the state of repair and readiness of your vessel.
  • -Manage the operations staff on duty and operate Portland Spirit vessels in a manner that insures compliance with USCG regulations, federal law and the standards, policies and procedures set forth by Portland Spirit.
  • -Insure a positive and professional image of the operations department to the other departments, passengers and general public through performance, attitude and appearance.
  • -Possess an in depth knowledge of the lower Willamette and lower Columbia rivers.

Responsibilities:

  • -Assist in marine operations as necessary, including, but not limited to, boat maintenance safety drills, ship cleanliness, and deckhand duties.
  • -Assists wait staff in all facets of food and beverage service, including, but not limited to, removal of dirty dishes from tables, refilling of table basics such as bread and water, and supplying of buss station products, such as coffee, cream, and service dishes.
  • -Adheres to side work, set-up and close down, procedures and ensures ship cleanliness.
  • -Maintains a high level of customer service, including, but not limited to, adhering to uniform policy and tip policy, monitoring product costs, and initiating teamwork.
  • -Communicates with the Cruise Director as to cruise details as it pertains to service.
  • -Involved with entertaining guests as directed by the Entertainment Coordinator.
  • -Assists Cruise Director on duty in capacity needed, including, but not limited to, the greeting and seating of guests and service of customers.
  • -Takes, develops, and sells guest boarding photographs and assists with gift shop operations.
  • -Responsible for daily record keeping and handling money outlined by the Accounting Department and Service Management.
  • -Pre-employment drug test and enrolled in random D.O.T. drug testing schedule.
  • -Required to sing opening and closing song.
  • Skills and Requirements:

    • Restaurant or catering background recommended. (Food Handlers card required.)
    • Able to carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to repeatedly bend, lift, climbing of stairs, pushing wheelchairs and stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to perform proper cash handling procedures.
    • Self-motivated and self-directed.
    • Highly skilled in relating to people and work as a team player.
    • Entertainment background preferred but not required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE - Cascade Locks

Your main focus will be to ensure excellent customer service while assisting passengers and visitors. This position is also directly responsible for processing telephone and in-person reservation requests for individual and small group purchases.

Responsibilities:

  • -Answering high volume of incoming telephone calls and directing calls.
  • -Knowledge of all general information regarding cruise schedules, services, prices and general boat inquiries.
  • -Cash handling and other monetary transactions.
  • -Processing and balancing payments with the Accounting Department.
  • -Accurate entering of all computer data.
  • -Able to troubleshoot; Problem solve; work independently.
  • -Extremely dependable is an essential function of this position.
  • -Procedures to open and close the building.
  • -Assisting with all administrative duties; typing documents, mailings, copying and correlating materials.
  • -Clerical support to all Portland Spirit departments.
  • -Position includes all of the above; but not limited to.

Skills and Requirements:

  • -Excellent customer service experience.
  • -Excellent communication skills; written and oral.
  • -Proficient in English and telephone etiquette.
  • -Experience in cash handling and understanding basic math.
  • -Knowledgeable in computers.
  • -Required to wear a headset while working at your desk.
  • -Typing accuracy, minimum of 30 wpm.
  • -Capable of lifting and carrying 40 pounds.
  • -Ability to multi-task, self-starter, organized, flexible schedule and team player.
