American Waterways Inc., local owners and operators of Portland Spirit and Willamette Star, purchased the Crystal Dolphin November 24, 1998. Included in the acquisition was the company's ramp and docking facility which was relocated to Caruthers Landing, our mooring and maintenance facility located at 110 SE Caruthers.
The Crystal Dolphin underwent an extensive remodel, modifying and upgrading the three interior decks. Our capacity allows for 50 guests for a seated meal and 120 guests for a reception-type event. A custom-designed galley headed by our Executive Chef and manned by our talented staff handles onboard meal preparation.
The Crystal Dolphin was the third vessel to join the Portland Spirit fleet. She was built in 1990 by Aluminum Boats of Jean Lafitte, Louisiana and is powered by twin 500 HP Catepillar diesel engines. Two Isuzu diesel generators provide electricity.
The vessel can reach speeds of 14 knots, and has a gross tonnage of 91 tons. The vessel's hull and superstructure are constructed of aluminum.
The Crystal Dolphin is United States Coast Guard certified and inspected. The vessel is 84' long including the swim platform at the stern. The beam is 24', and the vessel drafts 4 1/2'.
The vessel has four decks, three of which are fully enclosed and climate controlled. From the Columbia Deck, you can access the Captains' Bridge which we invite you to visit while the vessel is under way. The Starlight Deck has teak benches and affords a commanding view of the breathtaking scenery of the Willamette Valley.
We have a baby grand piano and a high-quality digital audio system including a public address system that allows announcements to be heard on all interior and exterior decks.
